Thoughts From Bubba

My faith story will not differ greatly from the other members in my family (Dan and Trudy), but that's just a testament to the great blessing the three of us were given in the examples of faithful, loving and committed Christian parents. Mom and dad have been committed to each other, to God and to their children our entire lives. And they remain that way to this day.

My dad drilled into all of our heads the best advice I have ever been given (the Three M's): determine your Master (who you are living for), your Mate (your life long partner), and your Mission (your calling in life - at home or in the marketplace) and I took to heart that inspired wisdom.

My brother Dan and I made the decision as to whom our Master would be one day when I was eight years old. We were riding our bikes around our farm and stopped to rest under a large Oak tree. I don't recall exactly how the conversation began, but we started discussing the decision Trudy had made a few days earlier. She decided to follow God's will by asking Jesus Christ to be her personal Lord and Savior, and it got us thinking about our own relationships with God.

Trudy made her decision as to whom she would live for, and we were just following her lead! Once my decision was made, I began to truly understand that "by Grace we are saved through faith," and I have been living for Him ever since.

As a youngster, I didn't fully understand how God would change my heart and allow for the other "M's" in my life to fall in line. And to be honest, I still don't! But you know what? It's not up to me. I know that God is in control of my life and I trust that by following Him and getting to know Him better on a daily basis, He will continue to reveal Himself to me and guide my every move!
