Thought for the week: You have a dream.

Today is a day to pause and reflect. It is a day to remember and look back on a critical time in our history. A day set aside in memory of one of the greatest leaders and orators of any generation. A day his family refers to not as a day off, but as a "day on" -- A time to remember the man, but to intentionally live his dream through commitment and service to others.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was an incredible man. He stood up for the oppressed and disenfranchised. He fought for those who could not fight for themselves, and he committed his life to making a difference in the hearts and minds of others in order to help lead us toward justice.

He once said that, "Justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love."

Dr. King knew that until the hearts of men changed, the actions of men would not be moved in the right directions. He was a man of great determination, and he had big, powerful dreams. He chased those dreams with purpose, passion and conviction, and he invited us all along until his crusade became our crusade.

He was a matchless orator and was able to inspire us with great aspirations and powerful truisms in the speeches he gave and in the hundreds of messages he wrote. But he didn't just say great things. He did them.

He dreamed of moving mountains, and then, together, we moved them.

Today is an important day to remember, but it is also a reminder that WE have a dream.

I have talked a lot on this site about dreaming big and the fact that small dreams stir no man's heart… We must cast a huge vision to genuinely capture people's imagination, and the bigger those dreams are, the easier they are to inspire people.

Martin Luther King, Jr. dreamed big and he encouraged us to dream big, too. A lot of his dreams have come to fruition, which is a testament to his life, his legacy and his ability to move people. Unfortunately, a lot of his hopes and goals and dreams remain unrealized, but that just means we still have a lot of work to do.

You see, big dreams - dreams that really matter - don't ever go away. Big dreams inspire people and inspired people move mountains.

YOU have a dream today... Dream big!
